33 beads refers to the 33 beads of a tasbih— or misbah, or prayer beads— there are many names for the beautiful strings of beads used to count dhikr and prayers.
For me, the name 33beads is a little bit of play on words! It is a nod to the materials I use, and the patience and presence embroidery requires.

Yes, I take a small number of commissions every year. Custom pieces start at $100 and generally take 4-6 weeks to complete, with the final price depending on the complexity of your design.
Please feel free to contact me at 33beadsdesigns@gmail.com to share your design idea! I’m always happy to discuss.

I do my best to use as many gifted, second-hand, vintage, and upcycled materials in my embroideries as I can, but I do sometimes purchase new materials (like display hoops, letter beads, jewelery cord, and embroidery cloth).
I have gotten a lot very kind donations from friends and family, and I enjoy the creative challenge of incorporating different materials into my work. If you’re interested in taking up embroidery, I highly recommend checking out your local second hand store!
